The Rolls Royce of presses

November 20, 2014 in Uncategorized

Just treated myself to a new printing press after many years of
thinking about it! A lovely piece of kit that runs like a dream.

IMG_8762.JPG

Just making up some new collagraph plates to try out in it. Still many layers of PVA to add and lots of drying in between!

Trial print from previously made plates

Weekend print course

November 9, 2014 in Uncategorized

Went on a great silk collagraph course at Leicester Print Workshop led by Sue Brown. So nice to be taught something rather than doing the teaching!

Tasty type

October 29, 2014 in Uncategorized

Was looking for some fluid type for the Ebb & Flow bookmaking brief. Found some on eBay. Can’t wait to start printing!

Tasty Tuesday

October 28, 2014 in Garden / farm, Printmaking

Well the good weather has meant more allotment work than arty work.

Onto raised bed no.3 now at the plot

IMG_8430.JPG

On the art front I just purchased some tasty Japanese paints. They are so beautiful. As displacement activity I painted the colour swatch.

Tuesday is transplanting day

September 30, 2014 in Garden / farm

As the weather continues to be fine there is much to do in the garden to distract me from printmaking!

Lettuces transplanted into bigger quarters, seedlings moved into pots and the sweet peas have just sprouted.

Hopefully we will have some lettuce during the Autumn and Winter…

Learning to cast pewter

August 26, 2014 in Uncategorized

I have also been taught how to cast pewter by a friend. It was great fun especially as it involved sawing and drilling to finish things off!

It has been a while…

August 26, 2014 in Garden / farm

Summer has been distracting me / that and deciding to take on a new allotment on the spur of the moment!

There is a slight weed issue

IMG_8103.JPG

And the farm plot needs to be dismantled

At home the produce is good

Final prints

July 15, 2014 in Uncategorized

It was so hot in the print studios so wasn’t sure these were going to get finished.

Peaks / valleys is made from lead type and Ebb & flow is a mix of wooden and lead type. Both prints took much patience with alignment!

Simple looking but complicated!

July 9, 2014 in Uncategorized

I am on a 2 day letterpress course at the moment. Spent the day positioning my type in a rather complicated fashion. Looking forward to finishing the 2 colour prints tomorrow.
